Town of Cicero, WI : Two people died in a fiery crash between semi and SUV on Highway 47 in Outagamie County on Wednesday morning, Aug 19, 2015

A fatal crash between a semi and an SUV led to a fire that damaged part of Highway 47, Outagamie County sheriff's officials say.

The crash happened Wednesday morning at the intersection with Highway G, north of Black Creek. Sheriff's deputies say witnesses saw the northbound SUV losing control before the crash. It struck the southbound semi in the gas tank, causing the fuel to start on fire.

The driver of the SUV was killed in the crash. The driver of the semi was seriously hurt and was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died.

Sheriff's officials say the semi was carrying plastic bags.

The highway was shut down for several hours for investigation and repair of the roadway.

The highway reopened just after 7:00 p.m.
