Granville Township , OH : 46- Years Old James B. Loats struck and killed in truck head-on Crash near the intersection on Friday , May 8th 2015

A man was killed Friday afternoon when his car went left-of-center and struck a truck head-on just south of Granville, the State Highway Patrol said.

James B. Loats, 46, of Granville, died at the crash scene on Rt. 16, near the intersection with Old Columbus Road SW, in Granville Township.

Loats was driving east on Rt. 16 about 3:15 p.m. when he crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trailer driven by David C. Edwards, 57, of Somerset, Ohio. Edwards was not hurt.

Fire crews were called to put out a fire that occurred on the truck upon impact.

Rt. 16 was closed in both directions for a while after the crash.
