SOUTH BEND, IN : 2 injured after car crashes into tree in South Bend on Tuesday, 15th October 2024
Firefighters rescued a man from his car on Tuesday afternoon after a crash on South Bend’s northwest side.
The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. on Elwood Avenue just west of Portage Avenue.
Officials say the driver lost control of his car and swerved off the road before hitting an electric pole and crashing into a tree.
While the passenger was able to exit the car on their own, the driver had to be rescued. We’re told they were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“It seemed the driver behind the wheel was having some type of medical emergency when he was west bound,” said South Bend Fire Battalion Chief Mike Lagodney. “They’re both in stable condition.”
