INDIANAPOLIS, IN : Fatal crash on I-70 WB near South Warman Avenue on Monday, 11th September 2023

A woman died Monday morning after the wheel of a vehicle came off, hitting her windshield on I-70, Indiana State Police say.

At 7:46 a.m., Indiana State Police Dispatchers received a report of a crash on I-70 near the 77-mile marker. The caller told dispatch that a vehicle lost a wheel, and the wheel crossed into traffic, striking the windshield of a vehicle traveling westbound. The vehicle then ran off the road, rolling over on its side in a ditch.

Officers arrived and located a severely damaged vehicle on its side in a residential area near Corrill Street and Wyoming Street, which is on the north side of I-70, police say. A woman was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
