Baton Rouge, LA : Woman dies from injuries suffered in side-impact collision near Rushmore Drive in Baton Rouge on Tuesday afternoon, January 6, 2015

Police said an elderly woman died from her injuries after a collision on the driver's side of a car Tuesday afternoon.
The Baton Rouge Police Department identified the victim as Mary Russell, 77, of Zachary.

According to investigators, the crash happened on Florida Boulevard near Rushmore Drive in Baton Rouge around 1 p.m.

They said Russell was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus when she tried to cross Florida Boulevard and was hit by a 2003 Toyota 4Runner.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Police added alcohol or speed is not suspected as a factor in the wreck.
