Janesville, WI : Two people died after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 near North River Road Monday afternoon, December 19, 2016
A Janesville woman and a Davis, Illinois, man died as the result of a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Highway 14 near North River Road in the town of Janesville, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release.
Bradley W. Britt, 57, was the driver of a Chevy pickup truck and died at the scene, according to a Rock County Medical Examiner's Department news release.
Carolyn Rhodes, 57, of Janesville, who was driving a Ford truck, was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville before being flown to University Hospital in Madison, where she died Monday night, according to the releases.
The earlier sheriff's office release listed Rhodes as 75 years old. The Gazette was unable to reach the medical examiner's department Tuesday night to confirm Rhodes' age.
Highway 14 traffic was rerouted for five hours.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated the crash occurred at about 3:26 p.m. Monday, when the woman lost control of her truck on the icy road while traveling east on Highway 14 and her truck veered into the westbound lane of traffic, hitting the other truck, according to the release.
Speed, alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol Reconstruction Team responded to the scene along with the county medical examiner's department.
