New york, NY : Man, 72, hit and killed while trying to cross Brooklyn street outside of crosswalk on Sunday, Nov 1, 2015

The NYPD says a 72-year-old man was hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle while crossing a Brooklyn street.

Police say it happened Sunday just before 11 a.m.

Officers say they found Mitchel Darroux unconscious and unresponsive on the pavement. Responders rushed the Brooklyn man to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say a Ford Explorer hit the victim as he was trying to cross a street outside of a crosswalk. The 63-year-old driver remained at the scene.

No arrests have been made and the crash is under investigation.
