A West Des Moines man was killed Tuesday evening when an SUV veered into his lane and struck his motorcycle head-on in Madison County.

Leroy Conrad, 51, was riding his 2001 Honda motorcycle westbound on County Road G14 in Madison County at 7:06 p.m. while Tifany Lensch, 41 of Bettendorf, drove her 2015 Jeep Cherokee eastbound. Lensch's vehicle entered the westbound lane in a curve and struck Conrad's motorcycle, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch along the side of the road. Conrad's injuries were fatal, but the Iowa State Patrol did not list a cause of death. Lensch refused medical treatment at the scene.
