Iron County, UT : 5-year-old killed in crash near Beaver on Sunday, 28th March 2021

A 5-year-old girl was killed in a crash on Interstate 15 in Iron County on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of an Infiniti QX50 slowed down because of tire debris on the highway just north of milepost 93 near Beaver, and the driver of a Mazda CX-9 behind the Infiniti also slowed.

“A Toyota Tacoma attempted to change lanes,” according to a news release from the UHP, “but was unable to avoid the Mazda. This impact caused the Mazda to be pushed forward and collide with the rear of the Infiniti.”

The 5-year-old, who was in a forward facing child restraint seat in the Mazda, suffered fatal injuries. Her name has not been released.
