Olean, NY : Man killed in West Clarksville tractor accident on Monday, August 1, 2016
West Clarksville, New York
A 62-year-old man was killed after he accidentally sent his tractor over a break wall Monday.
New York State Police, Clarksville fire and ambulance crews, and Cuba fire and ambulance crews were called to 8003 Johnson Hill Road in the town of Clarksville at 12:32 p.m., according to Allegany County 911 dispatchers, for a report of a man who was pinned under a tractor.
Troopers said Richard R. Gasbarre, 62, of that address, was operating his 1953 Ford Jubilee tractor while tilling the backyard. The accident occurred as Gasbarre apparently backed the tractor over a breakwall, officials said.
“The tractor overturned on him,” said Public Information Officer James O’Callaghan of the state police. An Allegany County coroner was called to the scene, pronouncing the man dead, O’Callaghan added.
Troopers are investigating the incident, but officials feel it was an accident.
“There’s no sign of foul play,” O’Callaghan said.
