Frankfort, KY : Driver killed in crash may have been drunk on May, Monday, 22nd 2017
GRAYSON The driver who fled police and was killed when he slammed into two other cars south of Grayson last week may have been drunk, police said Monday.
Alcohol usage and speed appear to be factors in the Friday night collision that killed Jamie D. Howard, 36, of Olive Hill, according to a Kentucky State Police statement.
Occupants of one of the other cars were injured, one of them seriously, according to police.
Howard was killed when his car hit a pickup he was trying to pass on Ky. 7, careened out of control and into the path of an oncoming pickup.
The collision on the driver’s side of Howard’s car tore the car in half, according to the statement.
Howard had been trying to elude a Carter County deputy who had stopped him on Carole Malone Boulevard following complaints of reckless driving.
The collision happened near Ky. 773 just south of Grayson.
Others injured included:
n Danny Haywood, 17, of Grayson, driver of one of the pickups. His injuries were serious and he was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment of a broken femur, cuts, scrapes and bruise.
n Tony A. Haywood, 42, of Grayson, his passenger, who suffered cuts, scrapes and bruises and was taken to Cabell-Huntington.
n A 6-year-old child in a rear booster seat, who was taken to Cabell Huntington with cuts, scrapes and bruises.
