Columbia, SC : Fiery car crash kills father, son in Kershaw County on Saturday, 24th September 2016

A father and son died in a fiery car crash early Saturday morning in Kershaw County.

Kershaw County authorities say a 27-year-old driver ran a stop sign and crashed into a home, killing him and his father.

Coroner David West says Maurice Millimer and 46-year-old Timothy Millimer, both of Blythewood, died in the fiery crash about 5 a.m. Saturday.

The father’s birthday was Wednesday and the two had been celebrating, West said.

Both men were wearing seat belts in a 2015 Kia car when they ran through a stop sign on Cherokee Road at the intersection of Tookie Doo Lane a little before 5 a.m., according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The car then struck a house on Tookie Doo Lane and caught fire.

The men were trapped inside the blazing car and died, according to the patrol.
