Phoenix, AZ : At least 1 person dead after vehicles racing on SR 51 crash on Tuesday, 18th February, 2020

At least one person has died after two vehicles were reportedly racing and one crashed on State Route 51 near Shea Boulevard on Tuesday night, officials said.

One vehicle flipped over and hit the median wall near the Shea Boulevard overpass, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

All northbound lanes of SR 51 were closed by 8:34 p.m. due to the crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. All traffic should exit at Shea but can reenter SR 51 at the Shea on-ramp.

There is no estimated time for the lanes to reopen, the department said.
