Anchorage, AK : Driver killed after collision with moose in Rabbit Creek area early Saturday, Oct 10, 2015
An Anchorage man was killed in the early morning hours Saturday when his car hit a moose in the Rabbit Creek area, Anchorage Police wrote in a press release.
Police were notified around 2 a.m. of the collision on De Armoun Road and Norgaard Road.
"Officers found an injured moose lying in the middle of the roadway and a blue Subaru sedan with front end and windshield damage in the ditch on the south side of the roadway," police spokesperson Jennifer Castro wrote in an email.
Police determined that 45-year-old Gerardo Lopez Rios, the driver and sole occupant of the Subaru, was killed in the crash.
"The moose was dispatched due to its injuries," Castro wrote.
