Enid, OK : A two-vehicle collision on Monday, August 21, 2017
A two-vehicle collision Monday morning sent both drivers to the hospital.
According to an Enid Police Department collision report, Jimmie Seabourn, 54, of Enid, was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry southbound in the 3900 block of N. Washington, approaching W. Purdue, at approximately 11:12 a.m. Monday.
At the same time, Angus McKee, 42, of Enid, was driving west in the outside lane of West Purdue, approaching North Washington, in a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 pickup.
According to the EPD report, witnesses told police Seabourn “hit her brakes before the stop sign but was unable to stop at the stop sign.”
Seabourn told police “she didn’t think she stopped at her stop sign prior to the accident,” according to the report.
McKee told police “he was not sure what happened,” but as he was driving west, he “suddenly struck” Seabourn’s vehicle.
According to the report, McKee’s vehicle struck Seabourn’s vehicle in the driver’s side. The impact of the collision forced Seabourn’s vehicle west of the intersection of Purdue and Washington.
McKee was transported by personal vehicle to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries to his head, trunk and arms.
Seabourn was extricated from her vehicle by Enid Fire Department and was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s with non-incapacitating injuries to her head, trunk and arms.
Air bags deployed on both vehicles, and both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the report. The collision report listed both drivers’ conditions as “apparently normal.”
The collision report listed Seabourn’s failure to yield from the stop sign as a contributing factor in the collision, and noted no improper action on the part of McKee.
