ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL : Multi-car crash in St. Lucie County leaves seven injured on February, Sunday 4th 2018

Seven people, including two children and a pregnant woman, were hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a three-car, head-on crash in St. Lucie West.

The accident was reported at 1:31 p.m. in the 1100 block of Northwest Cashmere Boulevard.
Several St. Lucie County Fire Department vehicles responded to the accident.

Fire officials reported a 12-year-old boy in critical condition was air-lifted to a hospital. Two adult women who suffered traumas were in serious condition and were transported by ambulance.

Two other females and two males, one of them a child, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. All those involved were from Port St. Lucie.

According to Port St. Lucie Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan SUV driven by Margaret Smith, 57, was southbound on Northwest Cashmere Boulevard, about 500 feet from Northwest Peacock Boulevard, when it crossed over the double yellow line, collided with a northbound Mazda and hit head-on a northbound Volkswagen van behind the Mazda.

Smith needed to be extricated by fire-rescue and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Mazda driver, Alejandro Miranda, 41, and his two passengers — a 68-year-old woman and a pregnant 34-year-old also were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the VW, 51-year-old Mario Aleus, and a 13-year-old boy were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 12-year-old passenger of the VW was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach in critical but stable condition.

Port St. Lucie Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are investigating the crash.
