Police on Wednesday sought witnesses to a collision in Torrance that killed a man on a motorcycle.
The crash was reported about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday at Sepulveda Boulevard and Anza Avenue, according to Torrance police Lt. Jeremiah Hart.
“On arrival, officers discovered that a silver, 2000 Toyota SUV and a white, 2016 KTM motorcycle had collided …,” Hart said. “Based on witness and driver statements, the initial investigation indicates the Toyota SUV was traveling northbound on Anza Avenue, making a left, westbound turn onto Sepulveda Boulevard when it collided with the KTM motorcycle, which was
southbound on Anza Avenue.”
The rider, a 58-year-old man from Lomita, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Hart said.
The name of the motorcyclist was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
“The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene and released,” Hart said.
The intersection remained closed in all directions for about four hours following the crash, he said.
