Man dies in accident on Huntsville Alabama
A 58-year-old Gadsden man was killed Monday in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 759 near Black Creek Parkway. One of the responding Gadsden police officers also was injured a short time later.Larry E. Bothwell died after his car was his hit by a tractor-trailer in the westbound lane of I-759. Gadsden Police officer Mark Harris was injured when his cruiser was plowed into by a car in the eastbound lane.
Police Lt. Michael Moon said the wreck occurred when an unknown white SUV either cut off or hit Bothwell’s Envoy in the eastbound lane of I-759. Bothwell’s vehicle went off the shoulder and up an embankment before losing control and veering across the median into the westbound lane.
“That’s when an 18-wheeler hit him,” Coroner Michael Gladden said. “He was killed on impact.”
