LOSTCREEK TOWNSHIP, IN : A two-vehicle crash on May, Tuesday, 23rd 2017
A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Loy Road and Sodom-Ballou Road resulted in injuries, one of which necessitated a trip aboard CareFlight for a patient.
The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. when a southbound van on Burr Oak-New Hope Road apparently stopped a the stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection where it was struck by a small car. The impact sent the car into a field where it overturned. A Pioneer Electric utility pole was sheared off, bringing wire down across the roadway.
The female driver of one of the car was trapped in the wreckage for a time and had to be extricated by Fletcher firefighters.
In addition to CareFlight and Fletcher Fire Department, Casstown Fire, Christiansburg EMS, and Johnson/St. Paris EMS responded to the crash scene.
Three children were among the crash victims. None of the children were thought to be seriously injured.
Pioneer Rural Electric crews responded to the scene to begin removal and replacement of power pole and lines.
Victims names have not been released.
The crash is under investigation by Miami County Sheriff’s Deputies.
