Fairfield County, SC : Pick-up truck driver Taber Cook died in fiery crash involving school bus near East Peach Road and McCorkle Road on Monday afternoon, February 23, 2015

One person died in a collision with a Fairfield County school bus Monday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 4:05 p.m. near East Peach Road and McCorkle Road.

According to Highway Patrol L. Cpl. Gary Miller, an eastbound vehicle struck a westbound school bus that attempting to turn left.

The driver of the pick-up truck died at the scene. The county coroner identified the driver as 45-year-old Taber Cook.

Officials from Fairfield County School District could not provide information on the age of the seven students that were on board.
Seven students five high school students and two middle school students -- were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. They were later released to their parents. The bus driver was also treated and released.
