Maryville, MO : Head-on collision claims two lives on Wednesday August 31, 2016

A head-on collision claimed the lives of both drivers Wednesday afternoon on Route F two miles east of Maryville.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victims as Kristy M. Lake, 47, Maryville, and Thomas G. Strueby, 83, Conception Junction.

According to the patrol report, Lake was southbound on the two-lane blacktop in a 1994 Dodge Spirit when she apparently crossed the center line and struck Strueby’s northbound 2002 Buick LeSabre.

Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, the report stated.

The collision occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m., and the victims were pronounced dead at the scene approximately one half-hour later by Nodaway County Coroner Vince Shelby.

Next of kin has been notified.

Both cars were described as totaled and towed from the scene.
