Ravenna, OH : A Warren woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Friday, July 28, 2017
A Warren woman died in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on S.R. 5 in Paris Township.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near milepost 14 and is under investigation by the Ravenna Post.
A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu traveling west on S.R. 5 traveled left of center and struck an eastbound Freightliner semi tractor-trailer head-on, according to the highway patrol.
S.R. 5 was closed for about two hours following the accident, according to the highway patrol.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 20-year-old Courtney Fritz was wearing a seat belt and died at the scene. A passenger in the Chevrolet, 20-year-old Treasure McCall, also of Warren, was transported with serious injuries to St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren. The driver of the Freightliner, 44-year-old John Waicak of Akron, was transported with non-life threatening injuries to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.Alcohol use is not suspected, according to the highway patrol. The Ohio Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of accident, and no charges have been filed.
No additional information was available about the condition of McCall and Waicak.
