TAZEWELL, VA : Tazewell County deputy dies following single-vehicle accident on Tuesday, 1st May 2018

A Tazewell County deputy died early Tuesday morning after falling down an embankment soon after a vehicle he was riding in crashed along a county road.

The Virginia State Police responded at 2:29 a.m. after a single-vehicle crash was reported, according to Corinne N. Geller, public relations director for the state police.

“A 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling west on Route 604 when it ran off the road and struck a tree,” Geller said. “Both the driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle on their own.”
