Arkansas City, KS : Woman dies following accident on Friday, August 4, 2017
An Arkansas City woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon. The 77-year-old woman will not be identified until the family members have been contacted.
A pedestrian was struck late Friday afternoon by a newer-model Toyota sedan driving eastbound on Maple Street, between Fourth Street and Fifth Street in Arkansas City. Ark City fire/EMS and police rushed to the scene just after 5 p.m.
The patient was transported to South Central Kansas Medical Center in critical condition. The windshield of the car was caved in due to the impact. Minimal damage was sustained to the rest of the vehicle.
The 21-year-old driver of the car was uninjured, but severely distressed after the incident. No name has been release for the driver at this time.
