A family of three from Alberta, Canada is safe after being involved in a one-vehicle crash on an icy I-15 near Jefferson City early Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened just south of Jefferson City when a truck hauling a camper trailer encountered slippery road conditions.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the driver tried to regain control of the vehicle but failed, rolling over into a highway median.

The Jefferson City Fire Department, Montana Highway Patrol, and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation responded to the scene.

Crews managed to contain a propane tank leakage and guided traffic around the crash site, which blocked the left lane of traffic.

MHP says the vehicle's occupants were all wearing their seat belts and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The family was taken to St. Peter's Hospital for a further health evaluation.

MHP reminds drivers to slow down on the roadways during inclement weather and provide extra room between vehicles.
