Corpus Christi, TX : 2-year-old boy killed in a wreck on South Padre Island Drive on Wednesday, October 26, 2016
The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office identified a 2-year-old boy who was killed in a wreck on South Padre Island Drive.
About 8:30 a.m. Wednesday officers responded to South Padre Island Drive near Flour Bluff Drive after a 31-year-old woman struck a flatbed pickup from behind, police said. The impact caused the minivan to roll several times. The woman's son, Aaron Cole, was in a car seat at the time of the wreck.
Senior Officer Travis Pace said officers conducted CPR on Cole but he died a short time later. The mother was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial and her condition is unknown, Pace said.
Cole's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, said Hugo Stimmler, forensic investigator with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.
It was unknown Thursday afternoon why the minivan struck the pickup.
The road was shut down for about two hours Wednesday morning as officers investigated the crash.
