St. Petersbug , FL : One Bicyclist was died after struck by a car on Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg on late Friday night, December 19th 2014

A bicyclist died shortly after being struck by a car on Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg late Friday night, authorities said.

A 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Lisa Tillman Walker, 61, of St Petersburg was traveling eastbound on Gandy Blvd near the Interstate 275 SB ramp shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, according to a St. Petersburg police report.

For unknown reason the bicyclist crossed into the path of the Taurus and was struck.

The cyclist was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition, the report states. The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

Walker suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
