Wilton, ME : Six people injured after a crash at Route 133 and McCrillis Corner Road on Thursday evening, February 16, 2017
Six people were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital after a crash at Route 133 and McCrillis Corner Road on Thursday evening.
Gary Hopf, 57, of New Jersey was driving east toward Chesterville on McCrillis Corner Road about 7:30 p.m. when he failed to see the stop sign at the intersection, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Hopf's 2013 GMC Yukon struck a 2007 Toyota Tundra driven by Bradley Walker, 47, of Livermore Falls, who was driving north toward Farmington on Route 133.
Passengers with Hopf were his wife, Anne Hopf, 52, of New Jersey and Gary Cortelyou, 62, Margaret Cortelyou, 56, and Charles Cortelyou, 91, all of Vienna.
Walker and Gary, Margaret and Charles Cortelyou were taken to the hospital by NorthStar ambulances, Wilcox said. Gary and Anne Hopf went by private car.
None of their injuries were serious, Wilcox said.
The accident was investigated by Wilton police officer Ethan Kyes, who was assisted by Sgt. Chad Abbott, members of Wilton Fire and Rescue and NorthStar Emergency Medical Services.
The intersection has been the site of several accidents. Wilton town officials and Maine Department of Transportation personnel recently went out to the site to consider what to do, Town Manager Rhonda Irish told the Board of Selectpersons last week. First, they plan to post "stop ahead" signs on McCrillis Corner Road in the spring.
Wilcox and Irish have also discussed the intersection, Wilcox said.
