Paramedic killed in West Hartford 3 car collision
West Hartford, Connecticut
A paramedic was killed on his way to work in a three car collision in West Hartford, early Monday.
Police say officers responded to New Britain Avenue under the RR overpass to a head-on collision. A Subaru Legacy, driven by Karen Torres, 33, of New Britain, crossed the double yellow lines and hit a Mini Cooper, driven by 32-year-old Donavan Alden head-on.
A third car, a Nissan Maxima driven by Zeeshan Rashid, 33, of Newington, then crashed into the rear of Alden’s car.
Alden was killed in the crash. He was an AMR paramedic who was on his way to work.
“As you can imagine this tragedy is very hard on the AMR family,” officials said in a statement.
Torres was severely injured and was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
Rashid was also injured and is being treated at Hartford Hospital.
New Britain Avenue was closed until 2:30 AM.
The crash is under investigation.
