A high-speed chase ended in a deadly crash Tuesday night in Rowan County, troopers said.
Around 9:14 p.m., troopers were notified of a single-vehicle crash involving a Ford Mustang with two people inside that was in a ditch on Wilcoy Road near the town of Rockwell, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
A nearby trooper was dispatched and minutes later saw the Mustang heading north on Red Road, which intersects Wilcoy Road where the initial crash took place, according to the highway patrol.
Troopers said the driver of the Mustang kept crossing the center line and an attempt was made to pull the vehicle over. The driver reportedly refused to stop and turned onto U.S. 52.
