Indianapolis, IN : Pedestrian Hit, Killed While Walking on I-65 in Indianapolis on Friday morning, December 26, 2014
An Indianapolis man is dead after a crash early Friday morning on Interstate 65 on the city's northwest side.
Indiana State Police received a report around 2:15 a.m. of a man in dark clothing walking in the roadway of southbound I-65 at the 123.6 mile marker, just past the 71st Street exit. Before troopers could arrive, ISP dispatch received a call of a crash in the same area where the driver said he hit something in the roadway but wasn't sure what it was.
The driver, 24-year-old Jung Won Pyo was not injured. The pedestrian was then struck by another car driven by 21-year-old Taylor Doyle who also was uninjured. State Police say both drivers are cooperating and submitted to blood draws. Investigators do not believe either driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The pedestrian, 37-year-old Ryan Miller of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say it is not known why Miller was walking in the travel lanes of I-65 and they did not find any disabled vehicles in the area from which he may have been walking.
