Cullman, AL : Victim identified in AL-157 wreck on Monday, 31st October 2016

Authorities have released the name of the Calhoun County man who died Monday afternoon after apparently having a medical issue before driving off Alabama Highway 157 and onto private property.

Cullman County Deputy Coroner Samuel Tucker identified the victim as Dana "Mark" Tucker, 53, of Calhoun County. Tucker's vehicle ran off the road, up a 15-foot embankment and another 150 feet into a wooded area, just northwest of Cullman and just outside West Point's town limits, he said.

"There are no signs he even touched the breaks," Samuel Tucker said.

Although it was initially reported the victim was ejected from his vehicle, Samuel Tucker said that was not the case. West Point firefighters were dispatched to "a multi-vehicle wreck with traumatic injury" shortly before 4 p.m., with Cullman County Sheriff's deputies and Alabama State Troopers also called to the scene.

Based on the evidence, troopers are not classifying the incident as a traffic fatality but instead a medical call.
