Waterloo, IA : One dead in a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 218 near the Broadway Street overpass on Sunday, August 21, 2016

One man died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 218 Sunday.

Details about how and when the crash happened weren’t immediately available, but a passerby noticed the wreckage in the grass and trees at the bottom of the overpass at Highway 218 and Broadway Street around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

The overturned vehicle was empty, but authorities found the man’s body along the path of the vehicle. It appeared he had been ejected.

Authorities said it appeared the driver was traveling northbound on Highway 218 when his vehicle left the road before the Broadway Street overpass, traveled down the embankment and crossed Broadway Street before coming to a rest in the grassy area.
