A 24-year-old man and his 16-year-old girlfriend were injured when the illegal dirt bike they were riding crashed into a car Wednesday night in Kensington, police said.

Two were heading west on Indiana when their dirt bike struck the side of a car going south on A Street about 7 p.m., said Chief Inspector Scott Small. Police responding to the accident found the girl on the street with injuries to her head. Medics took her to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

The man was taken by private vehicle to Episcopal Hospital, then was transferred to Temple, where he was reported in critical condition with head injuries, Small said. The driver of the car suffered minor cuts and declined hospital treatment. The dirt bike, which had no license or lights, was taken as evidence by police.
