Waitsburg, WA : Dayton driver crashes pickup outside Waitsburg on Tuesday evening, June 24, 2014

A Dayton man drove off the road, overcorrected and then drove his car into a ditch Tuesday evening, the Washington State Patrol said.

Jon D. Burns, 51, was driving a 1984 Dodge pickup east on Highway 12, about six miles west of Waitsburg at 5:23 p.m. when he drove off the road. The state patrol said inattention caused the wreck.

Burns was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla with unknown injuries. The pickup was totaled. Burns will be cited for driving with wheels off the road, the state patrol said.
