Four people were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries after a car crash this morning in Des Plaines, authorities said.

The collision involved a van and a car, and took place at about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Wolf Road and Jarvis Avenue, said Des Plaines fire Chief Alan Wax.

One of the vehicle occupants was briefly trapped and required paramedics to use hand tools to pry open the vehicle door, Wax said.

Emergency crews from Des Plaines, with assistance from Rosemont, Park Ridge, Schiller Park and Rolling Meadows responded to the crash, which shut down both directions of Wolf at Jarvis for about 40 minutes, Wax said.

Two people were transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Wax said. One person was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Wax said, and the fourth person was taken to Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago.
