Branford, FL : Three people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at State Road 247 On Tuesday, May 17th, 2016
A two-vehicle accident shut down part of State Road 247 for hours Tuesday afternoon.
Timothy Leon Sneed, 36, of Live Oak was driving a tractor trailer hauling a tanker full of milk was driving north on State Road 247, according to Captain Mike Burroughs, district commander with Florida Highway Patrol.
Shane Levy Goodson, 28, of Lake City was driving in a pickup truck heading in the opposite direction and had drifted into the oncoming lane, Burroughs said.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Sneed attempted to veer away from the pickup truck before the two collided.
After impact, the semi-truck veered off the road, tipping over onto its side in front of the home of Karen and Wayne Terry.
"We thought it was thunder, just really loud thunder," said Karen, who was home at the time with the couple's son. "Until we looked outside and saw everything."
With Goodson were two young children, Brealyn Goodson, 4, and Ryleigh Goodson, eight months.
All three with taken to Shands UF Gainsville with serious injuries.
Both girls were wearing child restraints at the time of the crash.
"Those child restraints saved their lives," said Burroughs. "Undoubtedly."
Sneed was taken to Lake City Medical Center with minor injuries.
