Redding, CA : Driver dies in wreck on I-5 early Friday morning, October 14, 2016

A Shingletown woman was found dead early Friday morning in a vehicle that had struck a tree off Highway 44 at Dersch Road.

Earldean Marie McLind, 77, was found dead in a 2015 Toyota at 1:45 a.m. Friday after the California Highway Patrol said it was notified of the crash by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Officers said it appears the car veered off the highway before hitting the tree. The time and circumstances of the wreck are undetermined.

The Shasta County Coroner's Office said a postmortem examination will be done early next week.
