Grantville,KS : Topekans injured in wrong-way crash east of Grantville on October, Thursday 12th 2017
Several Topekans were involved in a wrong-way, two-vehicle crash on Thursday night just east of Grantville in Jefferson County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The highway patrol’s crash logs indicate Donna Isch Lavin, 21, of Topeka, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of US-24 highway when the 2005 Chevy Cobalt that Dennilson Pineda-Ortega, 19, was driving sideswiped each other at mile post 374, causing the Cobalt to go off of the road and into the south ditch.
Lavin reportedly was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured. However, a passenger in Lavin’s car, Diana Guadalupe Calderon, 19, of Topeka, sustained injuries even though she was wearing a seat belt, as well.
Pineda-Ortega also was wearing a seat belt but was injured. He and Calderon were transported to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka.
