Jackson County, W.V : Several students injured after a fender-bender between two school buses on U.S. 21 just south of Kenna on Thursday morning, October 27, 2016
Several students were taken to area hospitals as a precaution after a fender-bender between two school buses Thursday morning.
One bus, traveling at a slow speed, rear-ended the other at about 7 a.m. on U.S. 21 just south of Kenna, according to Keith Burdette, Jackson County assistant superintendent.
He said seven students, including five elementary school students, were taken to a local hospital immediately after the wreck to be checked out after they noticed bruises or muscle pain. He said a couple others were taken to the hospital by their parents.
“It was a fairly minor accident,” he said. “We just always err on the side of caution and we’re just thankful it was not more serious.”
He said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department investigated but he was not aware of either driver being charged.
He said the drivers, whom he declined to name, also were tested for drug or alcohol intoxication and were cleared.
The school system also will review surveillance footage to determine if either driver was in error.
