FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC : Man charged with murder in deadly stabbing in Fairfield Co. on Saturday, 3rd September 2016

Fairfield County Sheriff's deputies have charged a man with murder for a deadly stabbing during an argument Saturday.

Cornelius Alston, 39, is accused of stabbing 44-year-old Marvin Young to death at a home on Smalls Chapel Road.

Deputies were called to the home near Winnsboro at about 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of a stabbing. A responding deputy saw Alston sitting on his car parked on the road, trying to stop the deputy. A woman at the house told the deputy Alston stabbed Young and "killed him," according to the incident report.

EMS tried to treat Young at the scene but he was dead.

Alston's son told investigators his father got into an argument with the woman at the house, his mother, which included damaging several vehicles. As Young got involved, the son told deputies Alston stabbed him from behind.

Both the son and his mother attempted CPR on Young.

Deputies returned to where Alston was sitting on his car down the road and arrested him. Alston is held in the Fairfield County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing before a circuit court judge.
