Ashland, OR : Port Orchard man killed, Bainbridge man arrested in Oregon crash early Monday, February 22, 2016
A Port Orchard man was killed early Monday and a Bainbridge Island man was arrested, after a van they were traveling in crashed in southern Oregon.
Ryan Bowker, 18, was riding in the back of the vehicle when it crashed into a utility pole in Ashland, Oregon, according to a statement from the Ashland Police Department.
The driver of the van, Brandon Morlok, 21, was believed to be impaired and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter, second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate when it collided with the utility pole. Morlok and another passenger sustained minor or no injuries from the wreck, according to the statement.
