Foster, WI : 1 Killed, 2 Hurt in Crash Involving 3 Semis south of Eau Claire on Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Authorities say one person has died and two others have been hurt in a western Wisconsin interstate crash involving three semis.

The accident happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 94 between Eau Claire and Osseo. The crash temporarily closed both westbound lanes of the interstate at Foster.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says a preliminary investigation shows a westbound semi had slowed down due to mechanical problems and was struck from behind by a second semi, killing the driver, identified as Steven Danzeisen, in the second rig. A third semi traveling in the same lane clipped the second semi and jackknifed.

The drivers of the first and third semis were taken to an Eau Claire hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
