Newberg, OR : Man was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 219 on Tuesday morning August 19th 2014
A Cornelius man was arrested after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 219 south of Newberg on Tuesday morning.
Ramon Oros Barrera, 35, was charged with felony hit and run, reckless driving, fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor driving while suspended. He was also cited for failure to install an ignition interlock device.
Police said Independence’s Fred Sauermann, 40, was driving south near milepost 24 just before 6 a.m. when Oros Barrera’s van crossed the centerline and hit him, then drove off.
About a half-hour later, Oregon State Police found the van east of 219 on Champoeg Rd. NE. After investigating, troopers made the arrest.
Sauermann was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.
