Clayton, IL : Coatsburg man injured in motorcycle crash on East 2903rd Lane on Friday, July 8, 2016
A Coatsburg man was injured Friday after losing control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a deer.
Mark Phillips, 55, was taken to Blessing Hospital by Adams County Ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.
The Adams County Sheriff's Department reported Sunday that Phillips was heading south on East 2903rd Lane around 9:15 p.m. when a deer ran onto the road one mile south of North 2200th Avenue. Phillips swerved on his 2006 Harley-Davidson Road King to miss the deer.
Phillips lost control of the motorcycle, left the road and struck a mailbox. His motorcycle came to rest in a nearby soybean field.
Phillips was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Illinois State Police and the Clayton Fire Department assisted at the scene.
