CORONACA, CA : 51-year-old dies in three-vehicle wreck in Coronaca on Tuesday, November 15th 2016

A moped driver was struck and killed in a three-vehicle wreck Tuesday night.

Carolyn Dorn Cobb, 51, of Dodson Lane in Waterloo died in the wreck, Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox said in a news release.

The wreck happened about 8:15 p.m.

The 2011 moped was traveling north on S.C. Highway 72/U.S. Highway 221 when she was struck by a northbound 2013 Chevrolet SUV driven by an 18-year-old from Chappells, according to trooper Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway patrol. The SUV was then struck by another northbound vehicle, Hovis said, a 2005 Nissan pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old man.

The moped driver was thrown from her vehicle and died at the scene, Hovis said, and the SUV driver was taken to Self Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

S.C. 72/U.S. 221 was blocked off near the One Stop gas station at the highway's intersection with S.C. Highway 246.

Greenwood County deputies and firefighters were helping control traffic.
