Des Moines, IA : Sister traveling with brother killed in I-80 crash on Sunday afternoon July 6th 2014
A Bondurant woman has died when the car she was driving crashed into the back of a semitrailer stopped in traffic near the Atlantic exit on Interstate 80 near a construction site where traffic was merging into one lane.
An Iowa State Patrol accident report says 26-year-old Christina Franz, of Bondurant, was driving a car that struck the rear of the trailer of the semi. She died from her injuries. Her brother, 24-year-old Trevor Franz, also of Bondurant was hospitalized in Atlantic. A hospital spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a message.
The semi driver, Jody Baker, of Idaho, was not injured.
The accident report says it happened at 3:41 p.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes of I-80.
