Police are investigating an accident that left a 52-year-old man dead after he was struck by a car while walking on an upstate New York road.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says deputies responding to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday found Theodore Miles Jr. of Amenia lying in the northbound lane of Route 22 in his hometown, located on the Connecticut border 60 miles
southeast of Albany.
Miles was taken to Sharon Hospital in Connecticut where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Deputies say a 29-year-old driver from New York City tried to avoid hitting Miles as he walked in the roadway. No charges have been filed.
The investigation is continuing.
