2 killed as bike collides with car

Two people were killed when a motorbike with four riders collided head-on with a car near Mamallapuram on Monday. Two others were injured in the accident. The accident took place near Manamai bus stand at 1.30pm when a labourer, along with relatives, was on his way home in Vembanur to celebrate Pongal.Ravi Kumar, 32, was riding the bike while Maheswari, 16, and Subhashini, 14, were riding pillion with R Vinod, 9, sitting on the fuel tank. The accident took place when Ravi Kumar tried to overtake a vehicle and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Ravi Kumar and Vinod died on the spot, while the injured, Maheswari and Subhashini, were taken to the Government General Hospital.
