Wolf Creek, MT : 3 killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between two pickup trucks on Wednesday, July 15, 2015
A head-on collision between two pickup trucks in Montana killed three people and injured five others.
A witness told the Independent Record that one pickup was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. 287 north of Wolf Creek when it collided with a northbound truck hauling a hay trailer Wednesday morning.
Taiya Ryan, of Arizona, says the truck pulling the trailer tried to swerve but was unable to avoid the collision.
Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Jay Nelson says a Lewis and Clark County bridge crew was traveling in the area and used an excavator to pull the vehicles apart.
Lewis and Clark County coroner Mickey Nelson told the Great Falls Tribune two of the victims are female and one is male. They have not been identified.
The injured were taken to hospitals in Great Falls and Helena.
This story has been corrected to show the second vehicle was a pickup truck, not a semi.
